Downtown Cleveland Memorial Expansion Needed to Honor Northeast Ohio Officers Killed in the Line of Duty

Honor Our Fallen Paver PhotoIn 1993, the Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial was built in Downtown Cleveland to honor Northeast Ohio officers killed in the line of duty. This beautiful living memorial features granite pillars inscribed with the names of fallen officers. Sadly, too many officers have lost their lives on duty since the memorial was constructed and an expansion is needed to add officers not yet listed on the memorial. This expansion will also allow space for future police fatalities.

The Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Society (GCPOMS) needs to raise $200,000 to expand the memorial and is asking for the public’s support by purchasing a personalized, commemorative paver through its Memorial Expansion campaign.

“We are committed to making sure that every Northeast Ohio peace officer who loses their life while protecting our communities receives the permanent recognition they deserve,” said Joe Mannion, president of the Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Society. “We have already broken ground on the existing site and are hopeful that people will participate in the campaign to honor these fallen heroes. So far this year, 30 officers have been killed nationwide in the line of duty and it’s only March. This is a unique opportunity for people to show that they truly care,” he added.

Each purchased paver will be placed on the walkways of the memorial located at Fort Huntington Park on the corner of West 3rd and Lakeside. Pavers are a permanent tribute and a chance for individuals, families and companies to honor and recognize the life of someone special, or promote their organization.

Paver purchases are considered tax-deductible donations. Different sponsor levels are available and the pavers come in three sizes:
