Update: Cleveland Clinic Police also ride in Police Unity Tour – 2/25/2014
Barb Apanites is the surviving daughter of Cleveland PD PO John Apanites, EOW: April 7, 1969, and also a GCPOMS volunteer who participating in the 2014 Police Unity Tour in May.
The PUT is a great event that raises funds for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund in Washington, D.C. Donations benefit the NLEOMF’s events and activities in support of police survivors, National Police Week, the National LEO Memorial Service and the NLEO Museum.
This is Barb’s second year participating in the PUT. She is riding in honor of all of the police officers from Greater Cleveland who have died in the line of duty, including the father of her high school friend Trish Maher, Cleveland PD PO Philip Maher, EOW: May 29, 1975… and of course, her dad.
Please go to the below link for more information, and ifcan, to contribute to her goal of raising $2,500.00. Every little bit helps, and knowing folks from Greater Cleveland are very generous, I’m sure we can help Barb exceed that amount.
Thanks for being part of keeping the Promise to never forget our fallen heroes, and keeping alive the memory of POs Maher and Apanites.
The Cleveland Clinic Police have dedicated their ride to all 810 known fallen officers in the state of Ohio. They have created apparel with the number 810 to honor their sacrifice.
